Support to Navigate Life’s Difficult Moments

Pipersville Farm Office

Everyone experiences times during their life when professional support is helpful. It’s perfectly normal. As an adult, you may find yourself overwhelmed with stress due to depression, work issues, relationship problems or loss. As a parent, you may be at a loss for what to do with an anxious teen. I can help you sort things out and create change.

Issues I Treat

  • Depression
  • Anxiety issues
  • Relationship Problems
  • Trauma & Dissociative Issues including people with a history of abuse
  • Life Transitions
  • Divorce
  • Grief
  • Eating Disorders – Bulimia, anorexia, binge eating, emotional eating (also called compulsive eating), over-exercise and people with a long history of dieting.

A Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS)

I’m proud to have earned my CEDS certification and be a member of an elite group of professionals committed to
excellence in the treatment of eating disorders. This certification recognizes that clients can be confident that the highest standards of care will be provided. My years with the renowned Renfrew Center gave me an education like no other in how to help people heal from their eating disorders. Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients seeking recovery from bulimia, anorexia, binge eating and other eating issues such as emotional eating. I will also help with the deeper issues related to your relationship with food and body that traditional weight loss programs or heatlh / wellness programs and professionals are not well equipped to understand.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting session

As helpful as talk therapy can be, brainspotting is a brain-based treatment that goes beyond the mind to access the brain directly. Some issues you simply can not talk your way out of. This relatively new therapy helps people uncover and process trauma below the surface and heal.

The brainspotting motto is, “Where you look affects how you feel.” You may notice that when people are speaking they look in certain directions as they try to access images and information be it a painful event or a positive experience. A brainspot is an eye postition that correlates with a client’s strong emotional experiences. Once a brainspot is located, focused and mindful processing with an attuned therapist helps the brain untangle trauma held in the more primitive areas of the brain so that healing is possible.

Brainspotting is effective for a variety of issues as it identifies and heals underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other conditions. It can be used for performance enhancement among musicians, actors and athletes as well as creativity enhancement. Clients have reported profound results in one session, although it often takes several sessions to work through an issue.

Types of Services

  • Individual therapy: One on one talk therapy
  • Couples and Family Therapy
  • Support sessions for parents of clients
  • Group therapy: I periodically offer separate groups for teens and adults in recovery from an eating disorder
  • Brainspotting sessions for trauma, performance enhancement, creativity and places you feel stuck.

Fee

My fee is $210 per individual, couples or family therapy session.

I do not take insurance but many people can be reimbursed if they have an out of network benefit on their insurance policy. I will give you a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company.

Approaches in Therapy

  • Insight-oriented therapy
  • Mindfulness, Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES)
  • Scientifically supported tools such as FBT: Family Based Therapy, CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

My goal is to uncover what your symptoms may be signaling about aspects of your life that need attention and change. I will encourage you to experience each moment as new rather than repeating unsatisfying patterns. I will help you to change behaviors that feel outside of your control to actual choices. You can feel like your best self once again.

You can get answers to many of your questions on my frequently asked questions page. You can also email me or call with your questions. We’ll schedule an initial appointment to get to know one another and develop a personalized plan from there.

I see patients from Bucks and Montgomery Counties in my comfortable Buckingham office or my office in Pipersville. Video telehealth appointments are available as appropriate.

Whether you’re the parent of a teen that is struggling, or you’re an adult going through your own challenges, getting support is a positive and wise thing to do.
